UN report: June was one of the deadliest months for civilians

Original version ·

The UN just released their latest update, and the numbers are as grim as you’d expect.

It feels like we’ve been here before, but Rosemary DiCarlo at the UN just confirmed that June was one of the deadliest months for civilians since the full-scale invasion began. Over 265 people killed and nearly 2,000 injured by Russian strikes.

The trend is getting worse, not better, and DiCarlo essentially told the Security Council that targeting residential areas is a blatant violation of international law. As if that’s going to stop anyone who’s already decided that hitting a city is a strategy.

The math is cold, but the reality is just a constant gut punch. It’s hard to reconcile these formal reports with the fact that these are real people, not just data points in a spreadsheet.
